OUR APPROACH

Healing is approached with awe and respect for the intelligence, complexity, and mystery of the body.

Assessment and treatment techniques here are gentle. We are striving to find and understand the source(s) of movement problems and pain without further traumatizing the body. Traumas, recent or long past, can be complex, as are the ways in which multiple traumas interact.

We carefully evaluate movement. This includes movement of deep anatomy structures like organs and arteries. These structures can be restricted or stuck and often turn out to be the sources of our movement and pain issues. Lungs get stuck to the inside of the chest wall, liver ligaments get restricted, intestine loops get stuck to neighbouring tissues. It all combines to affect our posture and movement.

We generally look at how lymph and energy are flowing, or more significantly where they are not. And we hold the belief that emotions can affect tissue and organ tension and movement. It is normal for our anatomy to move freely through a certain range of motion. Traumas of all kinds mess this up.

Hands on techniques are mostly slow and gentle, but the changes are potent. Where possible I teach people how to release restrictions in their own superficial tissues, speeding recovery, and cultivating life-long tools for looking after ourselves.

Once big restrictions have been addressed it is time to move. We need good movement patterns, and stability that is instantly adjustable. Doing this well involves breathing, alignment, the core, and movement. This part can be really fun, leading us towards moving and aging gracefully. It also reduces wear and tear on our parts, builds strength, and creates the marvelous feeling of being stable and balanced.

It is a different approach. Thankfully. It’s more leading edge than old school. Most people respond really well and love the results they achieve, and they refer their friends and family. I am grateful for having wonderful clients, and the trust they are willing to place in me.
